trembling in your arms, softly whispering

I feel lonely in the midst of a crowd. I continuously suffer from wanderlust, but even once I'm far away I am yearning for more. I miss my home, the smell of freshly washed linen, the sounds of the wood in the fireplace, the streets and faces that I know so well, my family. But I don't ever want to leave this place, don't want to know anybody anymore, don't want to feel like I owe anyone anything, or feel the pressure of having to meet expectations.
Why am I drawn to loneliness, but need to be close to others to truly find my peace? Why do we want to hear the rain, but don't feel it on our skins? Why do we long for autumn, but despise it once summer is coming to a close?
I just want to feel needed. There's nothing as appalling as feeling useless.
