Nos Alive '15 // Lisbon iPhone Diary

Parque Eduardo VII. / ->  nap time / street art: Christo Rei
selfies in beautiful places / #streetsoflisbon feat. Sao Vicente de Fora / beers & good people
beers & sunsets / Metro tile art / Bier für Vier - the morning after
breakfast / Happy No Bra Day! / Bastelstunde - arts& crafts& cherry liquor
six years of good times / favourite festival freak / The Prodigy (and Norwegians, as always)

What more do I want?
Zu meinen diesjährigen Highlights zählen u.A. Feel free to check it out.
Obrigada & see ya next year!

I don't think there's a need to explain to anyone why I've gone to Nos Alive (previously Optimus Alive) in Lisbon for the 6th time this summer, as I've already done that 20122013 and 2014. But either way: A fantastic and danceable lineup, sunshine en masse, cheap beer, the lovely Portuguese folk, an atmosphere full on magic, and the close proximity to one of my favourite cities. I've got saudade (a word that only exists in Portuguese - maybe somewhat like yearning, desire nostalgia combined) just thinking about it. Unlike other festivals there are fewer bands, yet a fantastic selection, who play longer sets. What more do I want?
Despite spending less time being in front of the stages than ever before and even going to the festival grounds at 9 in the evening once: I've enjoyed it so much! This year's highlights were Muse, alt-J, Chet Faker, The Prodigy, Metronomy, Future Islands and The Wombats. I've also been convinced entirely by Disclosure, Bleachers and Django Django, all of whom I've known for less than a year.
Feel free to check out my full festival playlist here.
Obrigada & see ya next year!

On Film: Lac Constance // 3

Life is good. Amen.
I'm off to Amsterdam.
I can't wait!

As promised: Lake Constance - on film
Berlin was wonderful, by the way. The weather, the city, family time. My parents invited me for a Mumford& Sons concert at the Waldbühne (a huge amphitheatre like stage in the forest) and it was extremely relaxed and nice. Of course I was shopping a little and had some (oh-my-god) damn good Thai food. Life is good. Amen.
I've got news and yes, I do find it very amusing how I talk about a new destination in every second new blog post. I'm off to Amsterdam for the second time this summer, as my favourite Spaniard Ane is there with some friends. Who would I be to not visit her! How selfless of me!
I can't wait!

i know it will take time, but, honey, time is bound to pass either way. // Lisbon No. 2

1& 2 - late afternoon relaxation // 3-7 - exploration south of the river Tejo // 8-11 - strolling through the North and stumbling
upon great views // 12 - street art by super talented Mariana Dias Coutinho (check her out!)

Bom dia!
Stay tuned xo

Bom dia! As I'm making my way to Berlin (indeed, I'm living the jet-set life this summer) I've prepared some more of my impressions of the eternal city of Lisbon. A city full of movement, dirt, art, history, sun and appreciation of the simple things in life (like food, oh ehm gee). An authentic city where you smile at and dance with strangers in the streets. A city in which taxi drivers know no rules and one-hour long train rides cost only 2,15 €.
Germany, England and even Canada can't keep up with this unique lifestyle - but still I'm looking forward to being back in our capital city!
On a side note: I've collected some developed pictures from my time at Lake Constance and in Norway today and I'm also waiting for four film rolls documenting my time in Portugal. That means you should prepare for a flood of analogue photographs on my blog in the near future. Plus I still have so so so much material I don't want you to miss! Stay tuned xo

// lisbon rooftop session //

doesn't, every once in a while, life seem to be nothing but a hologram?
Coming of Age.

How can life be this petrifyingly beautiful? My annual dose of Lisbon, which has been extended to two weeks this time, has had magical effects on me. I've explored unknown parts of the city and of my persona - without getting lost in the process. The sun has burned any sign of self-doubt from every cell of my body and I am noticing how I am becoming my own person more ad more. Coming of age. I'm not getting bored spending time by myself anymore and I encourage everyone that has never gone away by themselves to just try it. I felt endlessly free. (But, of course, I was super happy when Júlia finally joined.)
And of course: There never is boredom at my favourite festival, NOS Alive, either. More on that topic later though; I need to find the right words to describe my experiences first.

'Cause while you were sleeping I took over your town. // Lisbon No.1

What Went Down - Foals
1 - top of a stairwell // 2, 5, 6, 8 - faces of typical Portuguese buildings // 3, 4, 7, 9 - Museu Calouste Gulbenkian

Was tue ich also dementsprechend?

Before I even look at today's photos of beautiful Lisbon, I wanted to share yesterday's faves with you. I arrived at my airbnb in the early afternoon, unpacked, and went for a stroll around the North, where I've never actually been before. God, it was hot hot hot. So what did I do? I went for a nap in the Eduardo VII Park (Parque Eduardo VII de Inglaterra) with a view central Lisbon and the Tejo river.
Feels good to be back!

Happy Canada Day to y'all!
